Innovative storage with considerably higher yield

Innovative storage systems

As an arable farmer, you want to dry and store your products as good as possible after harvest, while maintaining product quality. With the changing climate and less predictable weather, longer-term storing of products without compromising quality is becoming increasingly more difficult. This raised the demand for new insights and a better understanding of fluctuations in temperature, humidity, and CO2. ENGIE Refrigeration has developed various storage systems with complete mechanical cooling which keeps the storage conditions stable throughout the year.

All-year-round constant storage conditions

Our innovative storage systems are fully mechanical and are used in an entirely isolated environment. This allows you to dry and store agricultural products independently from the outside air, making the system independent on the weather conditions. By eliminating the outside air, the ideal drying and storage conditions can be accurately controlled.

Agriculture & Heat recovery

The residual heat from the refrigeration system and various cooling installations can be reused for other processes that require heat, such as cleaning activities. ENGIE offers technology to capture heat and to use it in other processes. Residual heat recovery soon results in considerably fewer energy costs per year and less CO2 emissions.

Agriculture & Climate chambers

We design climate chambers to investigate the effect of changing conditions on crops, but also to be able to grow crops indoors and in other ways, like urban farming.

Agriculture & Phasing out

We are happy to assist agricultural companies in phasing out synthetic refrigerants. As of 2022, no new cooling installations may be built with synthetic refrigerants. That is why we offer various suitable and safe applications of a more sustainable alternative using natural refrigerants. By using these, you don’t only safeguard your production processes, but you can also benefit from interesting tax benefits.

Everything about Phasing out

Preserving product quality

Thanks to the stable storage conditions, product quality is maintained and you can store your products longer. This allows you to better respond to price developments in the market.

Saving energy

In addition to higher quality requirements and changing weather conditions, arable farmers have to deal with stricter requirements for making production processes more sustainable. ENGIE Refrigeration helps you with this. We can explore the possibilities of using residual heat and the saving and/or elimination of gas. Various new customized solutions can greatly reduce your energy consumption, costs, and CO2 emissions. By investing in energy-efficient technologies, you can benefit from tax schemes such as the Energy Investment Allowance (EIA), the Stimulation of Sustainable Energy Production (SDE subsidy) and municipal incentive schemes.

Phasing out

We are also happy to help you phase out synthetic refrigerants. As of 2022, no new cooling installations may be built with synthetic refrigerants. That is why we offer various suitable and safe applications of a more sustainable alternative: natural refrigerants.
