Article about the future of mechanical cooling

How to store potatoes for French fries without using the outside air or Chlorpropham as a germ inhibitor? The Dutch website Boerderij.nl, for news and innovations in the agricultural sector, spoke about a technical solution with Marcel Bennink, ENGIE’s Storage Specialist.

Due to the ban on Chlorpropham-based germ inhibitors, many growers are investigating the possibilities of mechanical cooling. As soon as rules and regulations on residue limits become clearer, more growers are prepared to switch to mechanical cooling, says Marcel Bennink. After all, it is very beneficial for growers. Mechanical cooling is not only an alternative to germ inhibitor Chlorpropham, but the storage results are also much better than storage sites that do use the outside air.
