Food processing

Food-safety and sustainability in the working place

Food processing companies are facing various challenges. First, humidity and condensation pose a threat to the food quality and hygiene. Second, the European Union prohibits new refrigeration installations with synthetic refrigerants with high GWP from 2022 onwards. Also, customers have increasingly higher demands on sustainable production processes. ENGIE Refrigeration offers companies in the food processing industry an answer to every issue.

Getting a grip on humidity and condensation

To get rid of humidity and condensation in cold rooms, food processing companies often ventilate production areas with the outside air. But that brings in bacterial risks that might influence both the product quality and hygiene. Every water drop at the ceiling can fall onto the product while processing it, with all its consequences.

ENGIE Refrigeration has developed various systems that provide a grip on moisture regulation and condensation, without using the outside air. This enables you to eliminate all hygiene risks and to optimize your product quality.

Well prepared for the future

From 2022, no new cooling installations may be built with high GWP synthetic refrigerants. We offer various suitable and safe applications of a future-proof alternative: natural refrigerants. By switching to natural refrigerants, you not only secure the continuity of your business, but you can also benefit from interesting taks advantages.

Sustainable at all levels

Customers are demanding increasingly sustainable production processes. Besides our cooling systems with natural refrigerants, we offer tailor-made solutions in residual heat recovery and heat generation. By absorbing residual heat and re-using it in another process and/or connect it to existing energy flows, you reduce energy consumption and energy waste. If this does not cover the total heat demand, you can generate it yourself in a sustainable way with a heat pump, for instance. This results in much less energy consumption, lower energy costs and lower carbon footprint.

The innovative techniques for moisture regulation, cooling and heating ensure you a food-safe working environment and a sustainable production process. In case you like more information about all the possibilities, we are happy to advise you.
